The Blind Swordsman

This is a trading card that came with one of my dvd's of Shintaro Katsu as Zatoichi, the blind swordsman. Shintaro Katsu played the role in 26 movies, I think. Beat Takeshi wrote, directed, and starred in a recent film about the Zatoichi character. It's a fun series of movies, and Zatoichi is cool like a samurai James Bond.

Art for Art's Sake

On the Deviant Art website, I came across some paintings by a fantastic artist named Jennifer Lewis. She's in Boston, and her work immediately appealed to me. I bought a print of one of her paintings--"Good Friends," (top)--and hung it in my kitchen. Her work is delightful, funny, and slightly dark. My kids say it's a little creepy, but that's part of the appeal. She graciously gave me permission to post a few images here for your enjoyment. Please check out more of her work here and here.
