Ultraviolet Legs

After shooting this, I saw an old album cover from the 60's with almost the same shot, only not in neon. Nothing is ever really new, I guess.

A Few Old Pics

I recently retired my old PowerMac 225, and while archiving all the files on it, I came across a few old shots from various venues: the paisley shirt one is from the Empty Glass during the Go Van Gogh days; the black and white shot is from the Cannery in Nashville; the shot where I have little hair is from The Springwater, Nashville's best dive bar.

Rock Anthems!

I've been trying to come up with a list of songs that qualify as Rock Anthems. Some jump to mind right away, like AC/DC's "For Those About To Rock," the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," and the granddaddy of 'em all, "Freebird." I was gonna add Mott the Hoople's "Hymn for the Dudes" and Roxy Music's "In Every Dream Home a Heartache." The Rolling Stones have "Street Fighting Man" and I think the Clash "London Calling" might qualify. Spout out your two cents worth and add to the list...

Sandal Weather

I took a snap of Amee while she was doing her toenails before work.

Rainy Day by Amee

Amee shot these great pics on our wonderfully rainy Saturday.

Blood

I read an interview with Janice Starlin, star of Roger Corman's "Wasp Woman." She mentioned that in those black and white movies, they used chocolate syrup for blood. This led me to try a few black and white shots using Hershey's "blood." There is a small drop falling at the bottom of the shot. I'm not sure it looks like blood, but it was neat anyway.

Whitewall

At a stoplight the other day, I pulled up beside a very cool old car. I snapped a shot before the light turned green, but I didn't have time to make note of what make/model the car was.

Chair

I shot this the same day I did the Naked Underneath shots. I liked the pose Amee hit and the contrast of the shot.

At The Pub of Love

This shot is from a gig at the Pub of Love in Nashville. We played there several times in 1995 and 1996. We took up about half of the room. It was a tiny upstairs room; the bar was downstairs.

Say "Cheesecake!"

Cheesecake, in moderation, can be good for you.

You Never Know...

I came across these two images while trying to organize some disks...they were underexposed and I hadn't done anything with them, but when I looked at them today I actually liked them.

Apples!

My new homemade cd is finished; it's called "Apples." There are plenty of missed notes, enough to make a drinking game. The man on the cover is Bill Van Der Meer, Amee's grandfather.

Whaddaya Mean Focus?

I shot this with an old 50's-era Voightlander rangefinder. Obviously, my focusing left something to be desired, but I really liked the shot anyway; everyone had real smiles, which is always a good thing.

Audrey

My oldest daughter, Audrey, is 10 1/2. She's already developed a sense of humor very similar to mine. After watching "Fistful of Dollars," I told her the sequels were called "For A Few Dollars More" and "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly," to which she replied, "I thought they would call it "Don't Give Me Any More Money, I Have Enough Now." I told her I was posting this blog and she asked me to tell everyone she's working on an e-comic about Slippy the Super Dog.

Corset

This is a shot from my portfolio. I may post more if anyone is interested. Or I take a notion. Or whatever.

Hard Days Night

I thought I'd post the picture I did for our Christmas cards last year; it was a blast to do. Everyone picked a Beatle and tried to copy the expressions from the Hard Days Night cover.

A Long Time Ago...

I stumbled across this image today. My how young I looked (it was about 10 years ago, after all). This shot of Hitchcock Circus, circa 1996, was taken by Baxter Buck, a photographer in Nashville. Left to right, front row: me (guitar, vocals), Alan Young (lead guitar), Mark Beckner (guitar, vocals), Mark Mingrone (keyboards), Danny Crader (bass). In the back, Doug Flower (drums). Drummers should always be put in the back, by the way. Did you hear about the band that locked their keys in their van? It took them two hours to get the drummer out...

Here are some music-related shots I did recently.

Wild Kingdom Adventures

My eldest daughter, Audrey, is a bit of a junior crocodile hunter. She loves animals, and wants to pet them all, even the snakes. Luckily, there are no crocodiles in the creeks of Elkview. Sunday, Audrey and her friend Eleanor managed to catch a baby snapping turtle and a sizeable bullfrog. And a dose of poison ivy.

On My Desk

Everyday, I can look up from my computer and see a vision of gyrating loveliness: my hula girl. My nephews gave her to me for Christmas last year. (They know I'm into tiki-stuff and play the ukulele.)
