I had to turn the radio off this morning after hearing report after report after report about Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's demise. How many people do we need to tell us he's dead? The expert analysts all say it won't stop the insurgency, the prez talks about terrorists, and Frist claims it will all lead to stability (in a region which historically has no stability). Barely a mention anywhere in the news that the Pentagon is dropping all references to the Geneva Conventions in the new field manual on interrogation; they expect me to believe that from the top down they don't encourage the crap that went on at Abu-Ghraib? It was an isolated incident? I'm sorry, but Private Joe in the army does what Sergeant Bob says, and Sergeant Bob does what Captain Fred says, etc. And Gonzales says "detainees" don't have any rights because they aren't "Prisoners of War" and so the Geneva Conventions don't apply.
I'm embarrassed by this administration's policies.
